There are plenty of reasons to get kids in the kitchen at an
early age. Learning to make simple recipes can boost a child’s

math skills as well as verbal comprehension. And as any adult who has baked a cake knows,
science is behind the magic that converts a bowl of batter into a delicious celebration.
Carysfort Kitchen Chef Shelby Confer likes to focus on the fun and creative aspects of
cooking. Chef Confer, from South Central Pennsylvania and an honor graduate of Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, brings boundless energy and creativity to the food she prepares.
Confer completed her externship at Ocean Reef Club working her way through all the Club’s
restaurants where she gained experience and developed her talent before landing a three-year
long position at the Islander restaurant. During this tenure, she mastered all the stations at
Palm Court, Islander and Sushi Bar. Her work ethic did not go unnoticed and she was soon
promoted to sous-chef and then garde manger chef overseeing over 30 cooks in the cold
kitchen on a daily basis. Confer represents the way chefs are cooking now and into the
foreseeable future. This hands-on cooking class will bring joy and accomplishment to your
child – and maybe even some delicious treats for your family. All kids’ classes are drop-off
classes – kids only please.

“Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes and cooking. It's about harnessing

imagination, empowerment and creativity,” - Chef Guy Fieri
