Chehalem Winery, Willamette Valley

Joined by Chef Kevin Gillespie

Those at Chehalem Winery believe the vineyard is the strongest differentiator between good

and great wines. That’s why their story is rooted in a deep respect for the land. In the early 1980s,

Harry Peterson-Nedry planted Ridgecrest Vineyards and in 1990, founded Chehalem Winery and

released its first bottle, Ridgecrest Pinot Noir. In the few years following, vineyards were planted

at the southern tip of Dundee Hills and on Corral Creek. Chehalem sources fruit from all three

of the distinctive sites, located in three different Willamette Valley AVAs. Considering themselves

a “vineyard winery”, Chehalem aims to reflect what the vineyard has produced purely and with

minimal processing. Their objective to lead, rather than follow industry norms and trends has

helped them succeed in producing great wines that reflects the fruit of the vine.
